Adult Education class fees are due and payable on or before the class starting date. Refunds are available until the end of the second class. Refunds will be given if the course is cancelled/not offered. Students who have registered, paid the course fee, and then opt to drop the course after the end of the second class, will not be refunded. Students dismissed from a course following notice and a meeting to address the reason will not be due a refund.
We respectfully ask that if you are feeling ill, you stay home to help keep everyone healthy.
Class sizes may be limited to allow safe distancing. Register early to help ensure the class is offered and you are enrolled in it.

TUESDAY
Quilting with Pre-cuts

Do you like to sew and create quilts, or would you like to learn how? Join us for a weekly FUN evening of sewing and quilt making. Learn new tips and techniques while you build projects based largely on pre-cuts. Many like to use this as time set aside with no distractions so you force yourself to sit at your machine and draw inspiration from others. Along with your machine, bring fabric, thread and scissors. The Power, Pressing Station, Cutting Station will be provided. This is an ongoing class, call or email to join anytime
Pyrography / Wood Burning

This class is a gathering of those who are interested in learning or ex-panding their skills in pyrography. This group offers the opportunity to work with an experienced artisan and others who enjoy the craft of wood burning. In this expanded class the instructor will explore the steps to move your hobby into a business. Find your vision for perfecting your art, and explore the possibilities of entrepreneurship using your artistry.

Traditional Book Binding

Join us for a fun and creative evening where you’ll learn to hand-bind your own custom journal using a traditional Coptic stitch a beautiful and durable technique that dates back thousands of years. Whether you’re completely new to bookbinding or an experienced crafter, Elise will guide you through each step with patience and expertise. By the end of the class, you’ll walk away not only with a finished, hand-crafted journal but confidence and skills to continue making your own books at home. All supplies are provided, just bring your creativity!
Learn to Garden No Matter the Space ***NEW***

You can garden whether you have 50 acres, 5 feet of space, or a window box!
In this class you will learn about square foot gardening, container gardening, building a raised bed and which plants, veggies, herbs, and fruits do well in large or con-fined spaces. The instructor will demonstrate how to build a simple 4’x4’ raised garden bed. Open to all skill levels.

Do you ever wonder how or what would attract more pollinators to your garden? In this class, learn about which plants are most bene-ficial to both native and migratory pollinators and methods of gar-dening where you attract, wel-come, encourage, and provide long term habitat for the diversity of flora and fauna in your yard. We will delve into rewilding on a grand and small scale. Every little bit helps pollinators! A list of re-sources, plants, and a packet of seeds for each participant. Open to all skill levels.

No previous welding experience is necessary for the SMAW/FCAW course. The Welding course meets 2 nights per week and is designed to allow students to progress at their own pace. After learning the basics of welding in the first session, students may choose to enroll in the next session’s Welding course at a reduced price to prepare for their AWS (American Welding Society) certification. Students choosing to prepare for the AWS structural certification will pay an additional fee. These welding career courses can help you prepare to enter the workforce as a structural welder. Leather safety-toed boots are required. All other necessary welding gear will be supplied.
Note: NPT Region III is the only ac-credited AWS testing facility in the state of Maine.
Landowner 101

Woodlot owners in Maine manage their land for a number of different reasons: aesthetics, firewood, main-taining health and value, recreation, wildlife and forest products. This 4 week class designed by a forester will help you define your goals and make decisions on how to sustainably manage your woodlot for years to come. This class may include a site visit to a managed woodlot. This class has been very popular, register early.
ServSafe Sanitation

Do you work at a restaurant, diner, convenience store, or school nutrition program in food service? Did you know that the State of Maine requires all food establishments to have at least one full-time Certified Food Protection Manager on staff? Perhaps you volunteer at your organization’s “Bean Suppers” and are concerned about proper food handling and safety. This 4-night ServSafe course provides that knowledge and a recognized certification.

Graphic Design for Crafters

Introduction to art and design concepts and techniques with a primary focus on completion of an acrylic on canvas painting leaving freedom for mixed media use. Artist will work with each individual based on their experience and guide them through the creative process. All levels from beginners looking for foundational teachings to experienced artists looking to evolve. All basic supplies are provided to complete painting and the lessons. Personal supplies for mixed media or what your creative heart desires is welcome.

Winter Sowing

Learn the technique, tips, and tricks of winter sowing from a gardener with experience using this technique. Starting some of your garden seeds during the dead of winter is a great way to have strong and healthy seedlings for spring transplanting into your garden, and provide a project to get your hands in the dirt early. There are lots of natives, flowers, herbs, vegetables, even tomatoes that lend themselves to this technique. Come prepared to get your hands dirty as we will all bring home a winter sown con-tainer of our own! .

Heartsaver-CPR/First Aid

The 6-Hour Heartsaver course is de-signed to provide the lay-person with the skills and knowledge to be able to perform CPR, render basic first aid when needed, and use the AED. Recognize when help is needed and feel confident that you know how to provide that help
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers 3-hour classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, and use an AED. This course is for healthcare profes-sionals, direct care workers, and other healthcare workers in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
