Welcome to NPT Region III's Automotive Technology
The Automotive Technology program at Northern Penobscot Technical Region III is a two year program that focuses in on the industry standards of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) automotive areas of knowledge and skills: Engine Repair, Automatic Trans/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electrical Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance and additionally the most paramount of importance-- Automotive Safety and Foundations. Students receive classroom theory on these areas of study, then via necessary demonstrations, perform ASE Tasks in the laboratory gaining entry level skills as an Automotive Technician.
Hands-On Training
In the classroom (theory applied learning) over a two-year period, students will explore all eight ASE areas of automotive study, initially focusing on the most important aspect of working in an automotive laboratory, “safety”! Learning automotive part nomenclature is a top priority to segue into the technical aspect of each area such as the enlightening study of Automotive Electricity-- the most prominent area of study in the Automotive Technology program. After garnering nomenclature, basic operating principles, and necessary demonstrations, students will perform related ASE tasks on training vehicles and may have the opportunity for live work experience.

Industry-Relevant Curriculum
All students in the Automotive Technology program must have a current portfolio. It shall include transcripts, a resume; skill sets certificates, technical update training certificates, ASE Certification certificates, and any other documents pertaining to your professional career. The portfolio will count as part of your participation grade and will be reviewed and graded periodically.
