Welcome to NPT Region III's Outdoor Leadership & Skills Program
The Outdoor Leadership program at Northern Penobscot Tech is designed to help students form their skills and interests into a career within Maine's Recreational and Outdoor Industry. The course will be consistent with the Registered Maine Guide Exam. Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and critical thinking in the classroom and in the field
Hands-On Training
Course content in the classroom setting will range from State of Maine laws and regulations to ethics and safety. Field work will range from trips to Inland Fisheries and Wildlife facilities to classifying aquatic plant species and ice fishing. Covering a wide array of “green jobs”, the students will be exposed to unforeseen career opportunities. Reviewing safety, best practices and finally applying it in the field will be the chronological order toward achieving stackable certifications in the program.
